Almost Monday - Live in Salt Lake City
Even the Sunday nights are bustling in Salt Lake City, Utah. Specifically tonight on Sunday, October 26, fans lined up for hours in the cold for the chance to be on the barricade for The Band CAMINO. After talking to some fans in the venue, it was clear that everyone was in for an eventful evening, filled with impeccable talent and great music. Purple Haze had the honor of being invited out by the Almost Monday team to shoot and review this show, so without further ado, here’s a look into The NeverAlways tour with The Band CAMINO.
Upon arrival, I was able to listen to the end of the set of a band called In Color. The band had a great sound. They played their newest song “Lighter”, coming out November 7th. It was a rather enjoyable listen and I am looking forward to the release day. I am sad that I wasn’t able to make it in time to see In Color’s full set as I really liked their energy and sound.
Next up was the band Almost Monday. I was fortunate enough to be invited out to shoot and review the show by Almost Monday’s team a while back and I have to say that getting to experience them live is a treat every single time. The band’s punchy beats and basslines breathe life into a crowd in a way you don’t see very often. Almost Monday started their set with the upbeat, dancy, “is it too late?” off of their debut album “Dive” which dropped last September. The set continued with their hit song “can’t slow down”, which went #1 on Alt Radio earlier this year. Overall, the Almost Monday portion of the show was just as incredible as I would anticipate for a band that has played over 100 shows in the last year. The band is lively and fun, they make you want to dance along with them through the whole show. My only complaint about this set was that Almost Monday’s entire portion was backlit. I am not sure if this is an artistic choice or perhaps a venue issue, as In Color was primarily backlit as well, but in the future, I would love to see the emotion on the performers faces by having them lit. Truly though, if a small lighting thing is the only issue, I will take it. Almost Monday is without a doubt a band you should experience live at least once in your life.
Our headliners for the evening were The Band CAMINO. I was so excited for the opportunity to experience this show, I feel like it was a spectacular introduction to the band. The Band CAMINO has an absolutely insane energy, it's loud and upbeat and the fans match it tenfold. I feel like it was impossible not to move and dance throughout the entirety of The Band CAMINO’s set. This is a very impressive group of performers on a very impressive tour. The NeverAlways Tour is one that any person who wants to have a fun night with phenomenal music should attend. This was a show I had no idea that I needed to see, but I am so grateful to have seen it. I can’t wait to catch The Band CAMINO next time they are in town.
