MIRADOR - Live in Nashville
October 14, 2025. MIRADOR’s final show of the US tour. Brooklyn Bowl Nashville had sold out within minutes when the second set of US dates was released back in March. Without a doubt, the venue showed up and showed out for our piratey friends. Fans dressed as pirates, captain and crew alike, for MIRADOR’s founders Jake Kiszka and Chris Turpin. The band was a personal project of Jake’s that he brought to life with his good friend Chris. It gave Jake a sense of freedom to create what’s wholly his; and boy did he do that.
Opening the stage for the group was Miss Emma Routhier, also known by her stage name Linka Moja. She eased the crowd into the night with a set that felt almost like a deep breath before MIRADOR’s set. Her voice was soft and steady as she sang, her words gliding over the airy instrumentals. For fans of boygenius and Phoebe Bridgers solo projects, Linka is a must-add to your Spotify playlists.
As soon as 9PM rolled around, the audience had their signs in the air.
Little black flags bearing MIRADOR’s symbol rippled above the crowd, a fleet of fans ready to voyage into the unknown with their captains, Kiszka and Turpin. They opened the stage with Heels of the Hunt, one of their more powerful and energized tracks. Mikey, their drummer, kicked it off with a rapid-fire drum roll. The group of four, Mikey, Nick, Chris, and Jake, really felt like a band of brothers in their complimentary outfits; some even matching fans.
As a longtime fan of Ida Mae, Chris’ original group with his wife, and Greta Van Fleet, being in the pit for this show was surreal. The powerful, corsair-like riffs of their combined styles hit with full force — thrilling, bold, and utterly unrelenting. They followed Heels of the Hunt with Raider– a personal favorite strictly for the line ‘dancing like a candy licker’. I’m still not quite sure how to interpret that one, but the way Chris sings it is good enough for me.
They ended the first three with their very first single Feels Like Gold. They upped their flair, giving the press their all from kneeling for the cameras to Jake’s signature 45 degree stance. What a dream come true for me personally—to photograph the guitarist who first drew me into the music industry. Without Jake Kiszka’s riffs and his unapologetic love for the soul of rock and roll, I wouldn’t be here, writing this review.
Thank you, Jake. Thank you, Chris. Your creation has given the world of rock music a reason to come together again. Peace, Love, and Unity.
