Mirador - Feels Like Gold

It's been a long time since we've been introduced to a modern rock group that has really shook the scene. It's also been a long time since the first time fans got to hear an album, was live on stage. Mirador first took the stage on Greta Van Fleet's Starcatcher World Tour, with the group featuring iconic Greta Van Fleet guitarist Jake Kiszka and another groundbreaking instrumentalist; Ida Mae's Chris Turpin. Accompanying these two powerhouse guitarists was drummer Mikey Sorbello and bassist/pianist Nick Pini. The rock foursome made their debut on stage in St. Louis, Missouri in 2024, and since then, not only the Greta Van Fleet fandom, but the rock scene as a whole has been awaiting their return to the spotlight with new music.

However, throughout the entire rest of 2024, and through the beginning of 2025, Mirador stayed radio silent. Fans waited excitedly for their return, which came to a halt when the group announced their (now sold out) tour of North America. Debuting their new and improved set on stage at The Basement East in Nashville proved to be a smashing success, with fans traveling far and wide to watch the show unfold.

With their first leg of shows coming to a close, came the release of their first single Feels Like Gold, an energetic, psychedelic, alluring rock tune that really captures its listener within the first couple seconds. Mirador's music has a captivating quality about it that makes you feel like you've dug up some classic oldies rock you just happened to have never heard before. The secret to this group is really about how it came together as a whole. Turpin and Kiszka met years ago when Chris and his wife Stephanie (together, Americana/Folk group Ida Mae), and Kiszka has said their connection was like he had found another brother. The two have electric chemistry on and off the stage, and Kiszka's hard rock/blues oriented guitar playing combined with Turpin's shared love of blues, while also adding that Americana element really tied this track all together and ultimately made it highly memorable.

However, along with two gifted guitarists, the group is accompanied by a fantastic heartbeat: the rhythm section of the group. Mirador has a collective of some incredibly intricate yet subtle musicians that put the music in your face while also maintaining an element of mystery.  Mirador is the type of group that just keeps pulling you in, and their highly anticipated album/sold out tour proves just that.

The production of this track has been somewhat of a controversial topic since its release. Upon recent interviews, Turpin and Kiszka state that their recording for this album was done similarly to Greta Van Fleet's albums in the sense that most of it was recorded live. Both the guitars as well as the amplifiers on this album were specifically sought out by both guitarists to assemble the exact sound they wanted the album to present. If you are looking for a more clearly recorded, crisp sound, this album might not be the one for you. However, if you are someone who enjoys the sound of a more raw recorded live album, this production style is just what you're looking for.

Whether you're a young rock listener, or someone who grew up with all the classics, Mirador's single Feels Like Gold, along with their upcoming full length album may be just what you are looking for. Especially if you are someone who is seeking that nostalgic, classic rock, jam-band vibe, this track might be the answer to your prayers. You can get a listen to Mirador's Feels Like Gold, as well as their newly released track Fortunes Fate on streaming platforms now! Their debut, self-titled album Mirador will be released everywhere on September 19th!
