Heart Attack Man - Live in Orlando
This past Saturday night, Orlando was graced with another stacked lineup at The Beacham, with Heart Attack Man and Phoneboy bringing their co-headlining tour to the stage. If that didn’t already sell you, let me add that this tour also featured the glitter indie rock band Pony and the solo alt-rock sounds of Slow Joy.
The night kicked off with Pony’s return to Orlando, starting their set at the early slot of 6:30 pm. This is also your cordial reminder that you should be showing up early to watch the support, who knows, they may be your next favorite band. Pony released their third studio album, Clearly Cursed, on February 13th, featuring a standout song called Middle Of Summer that I was excited to hear. Lead singer Sam Bielanski jumped around the stage through each song, successfully warming up the crowd for a good show.
Slow Joy was the next act to take the stage, a solo project from singer Esteban Flores. This was an act I had never heard of, and I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd's excitement the second the band walked onto the stage. It seems Slow Joy has amassed a strong fan base of their own in Florida, and they all showed up to The Beacham. Their set was energetic from the beginning, bringing an elevated energy to the building. As a first-time listener, I’m glad I was able to witness Slow Joy live as a first experience. I completely understand what they are all about and am excited to dive deeper into their catalog.
The headliners began after 8 pm, with Heart Attack Man taking the stage first. This band is the kind of pop punk band you get intensely hooked on upon first listen. With this in mind, it was very apparent that there were huge fans in the crowd, specifically lining the barricade. Heart Attack Man’s recent album Joyride The Pale Horse was released in April of 2025, an album I’d rank in my top 10 releases of 2025. Their set began with the song Lay Down and Die from their recent album, followed by Fake Blood from their 2019 release and fan favorite Like A Kennedy from 2023. I feel I should mention the 2024 release of Like A Kennedy, featuring Waterparks frontman Awsten Knight, which I feel may be indirectly responsible for the high-pitched shriek from the barricade the second we heard the song begin. The set followed a steady upbeat selection of songs, with vocalist Eric Egan jumping high into the sky through most songs. It’s nice to see a live act that knows how to conduct a stage and continue to maintain energy levels throughout the whole performance. This type of energy is exactly why I got into the genre of pop punk to begin with, and it's refreshing to see a band stay true to their roots. Heart Attack Man is not a band to miss. If you haven’t hit a show of theirs yet, they will be playing cities around the US through May. Be aware, I cannot promise you that they will introduce themselves as Heart Attack Man on stage, as they introduced themselves as Sublime, Twenty One Pilots, Dave Matthew’s Band, Underoath, and probably 15 other bands between each song. A band with good music and a sense of humor, just another reason to become a fan!
The night wasn’t over just yet, with Phoneboy taking the stage as the finale. Phoneboy hit the scene in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since. I love it when fans are so enthusiastic about a band that they bring hand-drawn posters to their shows. As someone who grew up making posters for bands, I was filled with joy seeing multiple handmade signs being held up throughout the show. Truly, the kids are going to be alright! I saw proof with my own eyes at the Phoneboy show in Orlando. The band released their third studio album Heartbreak Designer in 2025, an album featuring the cover of a bright red gummy bear-esque character. This bear character would actually watch over us the whole night on the background screen behind the band. The band jumped, hair flipped, raised air “solo cups” and shouted out Taco Bell, how could you not love them? Heart Attack Man and Phoneboy continue their co-headliner 2026 tour with Pony and Slow Joy throughout North America until the end of May. Make sure to attend a date in a city near you!
Follow and keep up with Heart Attack Man and Phoneboy!
