LAST DINOSAURS - LIVE IN ST. PETERSBURG
A sharp, cold breeze and summery bright music from Last Dinosaurs, a perfect juxtaposition. On Sunday, Last Dinosaurs took the stage at St. Petersburg's favorite outdoor venue, Jannus Live. This show was definitely a chilly one for Florida, with 50-degree temperatures and strong gusts of wind. Let's be clear, though: this weather did not stop Last Dinos fans from making the venue their dance floor and having a great night.
The show began promptly at 9 pm, kicking off with track one of their 2015 album Wellness. This tour is in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the album, so the audience got to hear the record from start to end with a few bonuses.
Fans lining the barricade were singing, dancing, and waving their signed posters they received from the band before the show began. The first 100 fans were able to get signed posters and a chance to meet the band, meaning the front half of this crowd were Florida's biggest Last Dinosaurs fans, bunched together at Jannus Live.
The stage was covered in a light fog, creating a ethereal lighting situation with the LED lights along the stage. From left to right, fans were jumping around and pointing their fingers high into the sky. The setlist was comprised of the tracklist from 2015's Wellness, only broken apart for newer tracks off of the 2026 re-recording Wellnxss. Fans spent the show dancing to stay warm and even holding up handmade signs, one stating “Will you sign my vinyl”, sprawled out in colorful markers. “Encore, Encore!” the crowd chanted, getting a response from the band that the next song would be dedicated to “crazy Floridians out there wearing t-shirts”.
The encore was a medley of classic disco-esque dance music, for example, Rock With You by Michael Jackson and Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust. It seemed everyone was pulling out their craziest dance moves for the last few minutes of the show. I believe I heard one of the members of Last Dinosaurs yell for the crowd to “Mosh!” during the last song, which the crowd definitely complied with. Immediately after the show ended, lead singer Sean Caskey jumped into the crowd to greet fans along the barricade. Last Dinosaurs are set to continue their tour until the end of March in the US, hitting the UK and Australia through the end of June.
