Magnolia Park - High

“HIGH” is the latest single from Magnolia Park’s upcoming album Nights After Vamp. The release will serve as the deluxe version of their 2025 album and will feature six brand-new songs. When I first listened to “HIGH,” I immediately noticed how it continues to show the band’s growth. I’ve always loved how Magnolia Park blends pop-punk with R&B influences, and this track really leans into that smooth, modern sound while still keeping their edge.

(note from the editor: Nights After Vamp is now out as of publishing).

The lyrics are bold and straightforward, focusing on desire and that overwhelming feeling of being completely into someone. Lines like “Your taste, your lips, they get me so high” and “I’m obsessed with you, every way you move” repeat throughout the song, and I think that repetition works. It makes the track feel catchy and almost hypnotic. When I listen to it, I feel that rush the song is describing — that sense of being so wrapped up in someone that nothing else matters.

One of my favorite parts of the song is the collaboration with Victor Viramontes-Pattison from Arrows in Action. His voice pairs really well with Joshua Roberts. Joshua brings a stronger, more urgent tone, while Victor’s vocals feel smooth and melodic. I think their voices balance each other perfectly, and it makes the chorus hit even harder.

Musically, I like how the song moves between softer moments and more energetic sections. When the lyrics slow down with lines like “Oh girl, I know you like it slow,” it creates contrast before jumping back into the big, catchy hook. They know how to experiment with different sounds without losing who they are and I think that’s what makes Magnolia Park stand out.

“HIGH” is catchy, it’s smooth, and I love when a pop-punk band isn’t afraid to mix in other influences, and Magnolia Park continues to prove that they can do it well.
