Indigo De Souza Live at The Underground

Indigo De Souza marked the second stop on the second leg of The Precipice Tour on April 1 at The Underground in Charlotte, NC. The night was warm and buzzing with excitement in the air. This venue actually shares space with its sister venue, The Fillmore, where Zara Larsson is also performing this evening. It was especially fun seeing the different sets of fans gathered together, all waiting for doors to open.

Once inside, the evening began with opener Mothé taking the stage. He warmed up the crowd starting with a super high energy song, “Total Popstar, proclaiming, “I’m not a rockstar, baby, I’m a popstar” - a statement that he fully lived up to throughout his set. His sound teeters into hyper-pop while also calling back to bands like 3OH!3 and Breathe Carolina (throwback!). He even brings Indigo De Souza out briefly to join in one of his songs with him, making the crowd go crazy. It was the perfect burst of energy to kick off the night.

Indigo De Souza took the stage starting with “Be My Love”, a beautiful way to begin the show. This song really showcases the whimsical feeling that her latest music encompasses. It’s the kind of song that makes the world feel so much larger than you as the instruments swell. Throughout the set, she alternated between the airy tracks from Precipice, her newest album released on July 25, 2025, and some of the heavier, rock driven tracks from earlier in her career, like “Wasting Ur Time” and “You Can Be Mean”. The balance between the two sounds felt natural and never jarring. It perfectly ebbs and flows as Indigo De Souza takes us along on a journey with her.

The stand out moment of the night is when Indigo De Souza stepped into the crowd and shared a special, intimate moment as she sang in harmony with fans. It was striking to see the audience respond with such care. There was no pushing or rushing. There was only a shared respect for the space that Indigo De Souza created. It felt like a genuinely authentic moment, the kind that lingers with you long after the show ends.

The final song of the night, a crowd favorite, “Take Off Ur Pants”, brings about a sense of melancholy in the air. This song is from the beginning of Indigo De Souza’s career and details what it’s like to live through depressive cycles and dealing with the self-debracitating habits that come along with that. As the entire room sang along with Indigo De Souza and her band, it felt like a collective release. By the end, it was as if everyone had left something behind in that room.  We all shared a cathartic experience together and I think that really captures exactly what live music is meant to do.
